Nigel, the ethics are debatable, but the reality is that people will not bother to protect what they do not value. If they value the animals, then they may have a greater appreciation for protecting that environment, so that the animal can have a place to live. There is a part of me that believes that should not be necessary, but the realist in me knows that it is.

Yes I agree with Devon.
Sometimes I wonder if it is ethical to keep animals in Zoo's but I think the benefits of captive breeding programs off-set these concerns.
